Tune Up Your Heart Chakra

heart In chakra research with energy healers, yogis and life coaches, the most common area of energetic blockage was the heart chakra. Stress, over-giving, guilt, depression and lack of self-care were cited as the main culprits in this widespread epidemic. Here are some easy, effective ways to unblock and tune up that heart chakra:

Physical: Pay attention to your posture. Most of us are walking around like hunchbacks, unconsciously closing our hearts. Begin to become aware of your posture while sitting, standing, and walking. Straighten the spine, engage the core, open the front of your chest, and drop your shoulders. Check in frequently to make sure you don't lose it, and notice if you feel somewhat vulnerable in certain scenarios. For those who are a bit more physically adventurous, add a camel pose to your routine. Stand on your knees with your toes curled under and your knees hip-width apart. Place your hands on the back of your pelvis for support. Engage your core to support the low back. Drop the head back and open the chest, gently backbending and using your hands for support. Push your thighs and hips forward, and do not rotate your neck as you backbend as far as you comfortably can. If you are experienced and warmed up, you can drop your hands to the heels and deepen the backbend. It is not uncommon for fear to come up in this pose. Opening the heart chakra can be scary!

Mental: Write yourself a love letter. Spend some time writing to yourself. Tell yourself all the things you love about yourself. Write as if you are writing to the love of your life. Eventually, that is who you will become.

Emotional: Try a metta meditation. Close your eyes and visualize yourself sitting in front of you. Wish yourself the following:

  • May I feel safe.
  • May I be healthy.
  • May I be joyful.
  • May I know love.
Next, visualize someone in your life whom you love or appreciate. Wish them the same phrases of loving-kindness:
  • May he/she feel safe.
  • May he/she be healthy.
  • May he/she be joyful.
  • May he/she know love.
Next, visualize someone in your life whom you have conflict with or someone whom you find challenging. Wish them the same:
  • May he/she feel safe.
  • May he/she be healthy.
  • May he/she be joyful.
  • May he/she know love.
Sit in meditation for five minutes, bathing in the feelings you have generated for yourself and others.

Spiritual: Participate in a service or volunteer activity. eing of service is an opportunity to give unconditionally. Choose an activity that allows you to interact with others who may be suffering in ways that you are not. Being of service is a way to generate compassion and experience how your own compassion for others affects your sense of well-being.

QUANTUM HEALTH TIP: Use the Vital Force Selenite Heart. Hold it while doing the meditations above for a quantum leap in amplification. Selenite soothes the aura, calms the heart chakra, opens energy centers to higher love and compassion.

Practical Immortality
by Deepak Chopra

immortality Right now everyone's allegiance is split. We identify with our bodies some of the time and with our minds the rest of the time. If you run a marathon, go to the doctor for a checkup, feel attracted to someone else physically, or drag through the day for lack of sleep, you are identifying with your body. When you feel sad, have a bright idea, or argue about politics, you identify with your mind. These may seem like obvious things, but it is due to these split allegiances that death poses so much fear. If you think that life ends when the physical body ends, the prospect is rarely pleasant, and no matter how much spiritual literature you read, a mental conviction that physical death isn't the end won't resolve your fear. Everyone seems to agree that nothing can be known about the existence of the afterlife until we get there--or not.

Going beyond our divided allegiance offers a solution that dispels all doubt and fear, through the simple step of seeing consciousness as the foundation of life. In such a framework, here are the basic points:

  • We live in a universe where consciousness has always existed. This point is easy to accept because science has never found, and never will find, the process by which atoms and molecules learned to think.
  • The brain allows consciousness to function throughout the body-mind system (including thoughts and feelings along with monitoring and regulating every bodily process), but the brain doesn't create consciousness.
  • Mind is intimately linked to matter, but can neither be created nor destroyed. Since physics already holds that matter and energy cannot be created or destroyed, there is no reason not to say the same about consciousness.
  • In different states of consciousness, qualia come and go. Smelling a rose when you are awake is different from smelling a rose when you are dreaming. In deep, dreamless sleep qualia subside, and there is only pure undisturbed consciousness.
  • At no point can you show that consciousness ceases to exist. Non-existence is a human concept, not a natural fact. For non-existence to be a fact, consciousness would have to be and not be at the same time. Since we know that consciousness is here with us all the time, the “not be” option makes no sense.
  • If consciousness has no non-existence, neither do we. During sleep all kinds of qualia, including memories, feelings, thoughts, and plans, get rearranged. When you wake up in the morning, this rearrangement allows you to be renewed for the new day. You don't automatically follow a pre-set program.
  • Likewise, death is a re-arrangement of qualia. The eternal transformation of consciousness, which we live with on a practical basis every day, simply enters a new phase.

The gist of practical immortality is actually quite simple. If consciousness exists--and we know it does--living with it as a permanent feature of life is the most logical way to live. We don't fear going to sleep at night, because the continuity of consciousness has been part and parcel of every life without exception. It would defy everything we know--and experience--about consciousness for it simply to cease because the physical body comes to an end. Everything about creation and destruction has been regulated by consciousness, and it will never cease doing this in a timeless way.

QUANTUM HEALTH TIP: What Dr. Chopra refers to as "qualia" is the set of perceptions we use to interpret and experience the world. To the degree our experiences are fully in the present moment determines our experience of immortality. Use our Alchemy of Transformation Meditation Elixir, designed to deliver a deep experience of timeless awareness.

To Forgive Is, Well, Healthy!

forgiving A study published in the Journal of Behavioral Medicine found that a forgiving personality was related to better subjective well-being and psychological well-being. In other studies, forgiveness was linked to improved physical symptoms, fewer medications used, better sleep quality, less fatigue, and fewer somatic complaints. Plus, forgiveness has heart-protective properties. A study published in the American Journal of Cardiology found that anger and other negative emotions had cardiotoxic effects, while forgiveness has a more cardioprotective profile. The researchers concluded: "These findings suggest that interventions aimed at decreasing anger while increasing forgiveness may be clinically relevant."

To examine the effects of negative emotions, researchers from Hope College's Psychology Department, examined 35 female and 36 male participants as they revisited hurtful memories and grudges. They focused on blood pressure, heart rate, facial muscle tension, and sweat gland activity. Participants were then asked to imagine granting forgiveness toward real-life offenders. Not surprisingly, researchers found that "forgiving thoughts prompted greater perceived control and comparatively lower physiological stress responses."

Simply put, while negative emotions increased stress response and sweat production, forgiveness lowered blood pressure and relaxed facial muscles. They further explained that "...chronic unforgiving responses may erode health whereas forgiving responses may enhance it."

Unforgiveness is classified in medical books as a disease, according to Dr. Steven Standiford, chief of surgery at the Cancer Treatment Centers of America. He insists that refusing to forgive people who've done you wrong makes people sick and keeps them that way.

QUANTUM HEALTH TIP: Unforgivingness is attention stuck on a past perceived wrongness. The stress this causes reduces mental focus, replays negative emotions causing fight-flight adrenal responses, and can affect situational awareness that could lead to accidents and more midunderstandings in relationships. Use our Clean Sweep Clearing Spray. It quite literally "sprays away" negative emotions, stress, and even neutralizes harmful EMF. Use it on yourself when things get harsh.

Health & Healing Hack of the Week

My Liquid Fish

liquid fish This is a handy and effective little energy mudra that you can do anywhere to address acute conditions, or to create a routine for chronic pains and conditions. Discovered, or received by healer, Jimmy Mack, My Liquid Fish is a finger motion. Begin with the index finger of either hand, hold it on or near the area in need, and then draw a "fish" as you move your finger away from the area to be healed. Energy can be drawn into an area by simply reversing the motion of the finger by starting away from the focus area and drawing the "fish", ending the motion on or near the area of interest. I use this daily, and have noticed it causes a shift where it is applied, and changes the pain or discomfort, in many cases simply taking it away. This Quantum Life

Death Is Obsolete

the field "Death, as a concept, is preposterous in the face of the infinite effulgence of being." -- Unknown

From a quantum perspective, death is actually a re-arrangement, a re-assignment, of particles and waves. But death in the way it is used in casual social parlance, means the "end" of a living organism's lifespan. I had a wonderfully bizarre conversation with a channelled being calling itself "Anttarr" one afternoon back in 1991.

I had asked if my lifespan was predictable--you know, that question that most psychics get: When am I going to die? Anttarr replied, "Dying is a hallowed tradition amongst you humans. It is a way to escape commitments, prove a point, give up, and stop playing the game."

I countered, "So we humans don't have to die? If we wanted to, we could live as long as we wanted?"

And before I had completed that sentence, Anttarr barged in, "Of course, of course. But there is much to unravel here. There are hundreds of generations of DNA programming to prove to you that death is as inevitable as taxes," it chuckled. "But no, you don't have to leave your body, nor do you have to age. That, too, is a social meme, a more, an accepted value; a way of constructing a character around an ego. A way of using time to validate self."

I didn't really have anywhere else to go with the conversation, so I changed the subject. But Anttarr's words stuck in my craw, and every time I start mulling over my mortality, Anttarr is standing there waving his "finger".

This week, Deepak Chopra published an article in SF Gate Magazine, called "Practical Immortality". In it, he stresses the point that consciousness cannot be non-existent. It always has been and always will be conscious. It is the basic, fundamental property of experience, the physical universe, and all dimensions beyond this one.

Within this context, the concept of death is exposed as an extreme example of duality. As Alan Watts said, "Death implies Life", since death would be meaningless without life. In the social human world, we have languaged and defined life as "not death", focussing cultural attention on the end of life being the reason for living. On the face of it, it makes a kind of slavish sense, but universally and from a non-dualistic view, it is absurd.

If we can turn this around so that death exists alongside life, it makes much more sense, and becomes something we can work with. Life no longer is defined by death--no longer defined by "lifespan". Instead, death becomes a useful agent for change--a way to transform self, and transcend the death-obsessed ego.

In most cultures is the idea, or tradition, of the "mid-life crisis", seemingly brought on by "becoming aware of one's mortality." This is how we program our minds, our DNA, and those around us, into carrying on this fine tradition of mortal fear, body death, emotional loss and suffering. We live our lives under the auspices of "being a contribution to society" while we're still alive to create a "legacy", and generally use death to motivate and worship our ego.

In the face of the "effulgence of infinite being", these concepts, traditions and cultural habits become obsolete. And by contextualizing living as an everlasting sequence of experiences and expressions of form, we arrive much closer to the Cosmic Truth about existence--a truth that is informed by infinite possibilities, choices, freedom and joy. We choose to live in this form. We choose to live as boundless expressions of creation, untethered by such mundane and slavish concepts of "lifespan" or "mortality".

By living a life without end, we send a message to our DNA to continually repair and regenerate, and we embrace the nourishing impossibility of non-existence. We have always been here, and will always be here. It's the inescapable essence of life.

To your quantum health,

The Quantum Human is Immortal Say Physicists

quantum person The University of Arizona’s Stuart Hameroff and physicist Sir Roger Penrose conclude that the human consciousness is information. Penrose and his team are finding signs that "protein-based microtubules–also a structural component of human cells–transmit sensory information– information stored on a subatomic level."

Penrose asserts that in the case where a person dies, this sensory information is discharged out of the microtubules and into the world. If they're resuscitated, the quantum information is steered back to the microtubules and then that is what arouses a near-death encounter. "When they truly are not restored, and also the patient dies, it is likely that this quantum advice might exist beyond your human body, perhaps forever, as a soul."

Researchers from the Max Planck Institute for Physics in Munich are in accordance with Penrose that the world that we live in is only our understanding of it, and once our bodies perish, there is a force beyond infinite. Some think that consciousness travels into parallel universes after death. "The beyond is now the unlimited reality that's far bigger… which this particular world is rooted in. This manner, our own lives within this particular plane of existence are surrounded by the after-world already…Your human body dies, but the spiritual quantum field persists. In this manner, we're immortal.

In Beyond Biocentrism: Rethinking Time, Space, Consciousness, and the Illusion of Death, Robert Lanza says that we exist out of time and we're immortal. Biocentrism postulates that distance and time are not the barriers we presume. Death doesn't exist in a timeless universe. His scientific theory shows that dying is not the terminal event we all presume. "There are an infinite amount of universes, and exactly what may potentially occur does occur in some universe."

All universes exist irrespective of what goes on in just about any one of them. Although bodies have been destined to self-destruct, the living sense--the sense of I Am--is a reservoir of energy operating from mental performance. However, this energy will not disappear completely at death. Certainly one of the maxims of science is that energy never dies, and may exist outside this universe or travel to another.

QUANTUM HEALTH TIP: Meditation and mindfulness is the most direct way to experience ourselves as energy outside of space and time. The essence of the eternal I AM is unchanging, existing in and as the world it perceives and creates. Use our Trinity Meditation Elixirs to enhance your meditation practice and to assist in maintaining mindfulness in daily living.

The Fundamental-ness of Consciousness

consciousness Consciousness researcher, David Chalmers, postulates a new paradigm in science in which consciousness is established as a fundamental and possibly universal building block of nature. "Consciousness is a fundamental aspect of our existence," says Chalmers: "There's nothing we know about more directly, yet at the same time, it's the most mysterious phenomenon in the universe."

The nineteenth century physicist Maxwell came to the conclusion that we can't explain electro-magnetic phenomena in terms of the existing fundamentals such as space, time, mass and Newtonian laws, so he postulated fundamental laws of electromagnetism. Chalmers suggests that we might be at a similar point in science today when it comes to consciousness, if we cannot explain consciousness in terms of the existing fundamentals space, time, mass and charge then it is a matter of expanding the list of fundamental laws and postulating that consciousness itself is also a fundamental building block of nature. This theory will open up the way for science to study the fundamental laws governing consciousness, and to investigate the connection to the existing laws.

The second idea Chalmers advocates, is that consciousness might be universal and that every system down to the elementary particles has degrees of consciousness. This view is also called pan-psychism in philosophy, or non-duality in the mystical traditions. Chalmers believes that the universality of consciousness is what can help us bridge the gap between consciousness and the physical world in science, leaving the equations in physics as they are while using them to describe the flux of consciousness. Chalmers concludes that we might not "figure out a theory of consciousness over night" but the process of studying consciousness holds the key of understanding the universe and ourselves.

Chalmers has placed the "hard problem" of consciousness firmly on the philosophical map. He famously challenges materialist conceptions of mind, arguing for an "explanatory gap" between our brains' physical properties and our mind's perceptions and abilities. He has also championed the notion of the "extended mind," which argues that the mind is not confined to skin or skull, but plausibly extends beyond them.

QUANTUM HEALTH TIP: Subtle energy fields are behind all manifestations of "matter". These fields act as templates upon which we, as creators, actualize our thoughts. These fields also interact with Earth, which has her own field as well. These interacting fields create resonances and energy flows we, as creators, access in order to manifest the world around us. Use our new Schumann Resonance Vital Force Crystals to stablite and strengthen these earth fields, bringing greater harmony to our body and life.

Did Another Intelligence Invent DNA?

program Up until now, a human's only direct experience of mind was through the human mind itself--entirely based on personal experience, and indirectly through communication with others. There has been no way to entertain the idea of directly knowing a mind other than one's own--the "one" with all of the stories tied to one's "identity."

But now that we have been able to discern the logic of DNA, we can truly see it for what it must be: the product of another intelligence--another mind. There is only one programming language whose origin we do not know, and that is DNA. By looking at how DNA is an "organic" programming language; geneticist Juan Enriquez's informs us that DNA behaves in exactly the same way as our "floppy disks" and computer software. The A, C, T and G symbols represented in in sequencing stand for chemicals, so the "calculations" or "instructions" are biochemical, and although not in a silicon chip as with our computers, the principle is identical. And in the case of DNA now with CRISPR--edited and reprogrammed.

To have a meaning that can be discerned it must be of mind. By definition a random pattern is meaningless. Any meaning is the obvious product of some mental intention. By discovering the program of A, C, T and G behind DNA we have exposed it as "mind created" stuff--all other software with which we are familiar is intentional and based on a logical system--and could not have arisen by accident. It follows that DNA is an organic programming language. This means that it must be intentional--the product of an intelligence with a purpose, and by inference, an intelligence not of this world.

QUANTUM HEALTH TIP: Subtle energy fields have been detected around DNA, leading some researchers to treat strands of DNA as active broadcasting units, sending information to the greater body for repair and response. These subtle energy fields are affected by other electromagnetic fields DNA is exposed to, causing damage over the long term. Use our EMF Transformer strips on the major sources of EMF in your home, such as smartphones, wi-fi routers, TVs, microwaves, etc. The transformers alter the harmful EMF energies, creating life-enhancing energies instead.

The Inner Smile

inner smile This is an ancient Taoist practice, where you put your attention on an area of the body and have it smile back at you. For example, there is a pain in the right knee. Observe the pain, and then have the knee smile back to you. You may find it frowns first, but continue until there is a smile. You'll notice a marked decrease or subsiding of the pain, and perhaps some gentle throbbing in the area. This is a sign the energy flow has been restored. This is an excellent practice to do upon morning waking.

Janet Barret

Janet Barrett "I am all about breaking down the illusions--whether it is feeling or thought--and separating out the emotional, physical, mental energies so that the pearls of wisdom buried can be free of the pain that created it. This allows for new realities, clearing out the perceived negatives that encode the information and hold patterns stuck. My starting point is that life is sacred and a joy. I have come to that vantage point after dealing personally with diagnosed and undiagnosed catastrophic illnesses for most of my life. At some point you have to find a way not to let that be the only thing that defines you. Everyday it is a choice to be alive and live life with deep appreciation and in joyous wonderment. I don't intend to make life only about surviving and dying anymore. Realizing how not to be a victim to our illusions of who we are and what we feel physically and emotionally is a life´s journey. Learning how to take the hurts that we each all hold and distilling them into the gifts of wisdom that they truly are takes time, energy and experience. It is only consciousness directing experiences." Janet Barrett, Energy Empath

No one really dies from disease...

living I remember when I was kid in school back in the 1950s in health class they were warning about the dangers of smoking. They rolled out the famous picture of the man with no teeth sporting a rather gruesome looking laryngectomy hole in his throat. On top of that, a local man was invited to speak to us who also had had this procedure done because of the smoking. I did vow then and there never to smoke, but what I really focused in on was the age of the man in the picture. He seemed really old.

In class they emphasized that smoking causes premature aging and early death from such maladies as cancer, emphysema, or heart disease. But that old man in the picture was happy, smoking his cigarette through the laryngectomy hole. Besides being the poster child for addiction, my young mind saw a contradiction in the argument that smoking causes early death.

Some years later, as a teenager, I read an article in the newspaper about Mrs. Green who had lived to be 100 years old and had smoked every day of her life since age 10. That reminded me of all the education I had claiming that smoking shortened your life. One of the statistics touted as a "scientific study" was that for every cigarette you smoke it shortens your lifespan by 10 minutes. I brought this up to one of my teachers. How could Mrs. Green have lived to be 100 years old and gotten there smoking every day since age 10? My science teacher, Mr. Reichert, retorted, "Well, think how long she would have lived had she not smoked the whole time?" I thought, 150? 200? I'd heard that there were people that live that long in places like Bulgaria and China, but no one actually believed it to be true.

Statistical improbabilities aside, I came to a startling conclusion back then, that I spent the rest of my life confirming: Mrs. Green died because it was her time to die. Stated more clearly: Death is independent of any physical cause.

I got into many debates with people on this subject, but as I headed into my 50's, I began to find others who had come to the same conclusion. I'm a touring blues musician, and you'll find many of the hardest-lived lives in this profession. Blues guys who've done drugs, smoked two packs a day, ate copious amounts of unhealthy food on the road, and led terribly dramatic emotional lives. Then you hear they finally died at 87 or 92. In fact, Pinetop Perkins, the famous blues piano player died in March at age 97. He was no angel, lived life to the fullest, including smoking and drinking and eating plenty of ribs.

Are these people some sort of genetic supermen? Genetic anomolies? If you graph their lives and behaviors against longevity norms of an entire population, you might find they lived longer than would be expected, but they certainly are not exceptional--as any casual look at health statistics will show.

On the other hand, what about those people who took care of themselves their whole lives--eating right, exercising, managing their stress, with strong family support--dying at age 52? Jim Fixx comes to mind--the running guru, who helped make jogging a national pasttime in the late 70s. He died at age 52 of a heart attack. Because he seemed like the picture of health, autopsies were performed, and it was found that he had severe atherosclerosis, leading many people to the faulty conclusion that jogging was harmful. Two years after his death, another researcher put together a string of additional conditions and maladies that pre-disposed Fixx to his early death, such as being a former overweight smoker with congenitally enlarged heart. Thus, his early death was explained away.

And there's Sudden Infant Death Syndrome, where an infant simply dies for no apparent reason--this is unexplained by science. In fact, there are thousands of unexplained deaths every year around the world, where there are no medical reasons for the deaths. They just died.

A former girlfriend of mine from the 70s died recently at age 52. It was a complete shock to the family (as well as to me), because she had been just fine physically, went to bed one night and didn't wake up.

An Alternative Explanation

yin-yang As my blues touring buddy says every time somebody he knew dies, "Well, it was time to go." To me, this contains a profoundly spiritual truth. It is that only the soul determines when a person dies. This is a decision made at the time of incarnation, and everything that happens in that life leads to the inevitable moment of death at the prescribed time.

This is not a "new idea." Buddhists and Hinduists have maintained that incarnation of the soul into a physical body is ONLY determined by the soul and its karma. This is a big statement. It is the soul that is outside of space and time. There is no "beginning" or "end" from the viewpoint of a soul--only CHANGE. Any "decision" a soul makes to incarnate into the linear bounds of physical existence inherently contains a beginning and an end, because that is the nature of physical existence.

We get focused on the end of life, because of our fear of it. We fear it because it is "unknown," and there are so many conflicting dogmas, memes and beliefs surrounding the subject. How do we really subjectively know what happens at death? We don't until it happens. Yet, there is much known about the subject, and even some pretty sophisticated neuro-scientific experiments attempting to capture the moment of death.

Tibetan Buddhism is famous for its re-incarnational beliefs--they choose the next spiritual leader to replace the old one by finding that exact some person again in a new body. Hopi Indian beliefs include strong statements of pre-destination and "fate," as do many Western religious beliefs. Reincarnation and pre-destination are ideas possible only with a conscious agent existing outside the bounds of linear time and finite space. That agent is the soul.

Metaphysician, Alice Bailey, in the book, Esoteric Healing, makes the supreme point that healing only occurs with the soul's permission. In this view, Bailey says that factors such as karma and the pre-destined date of death affect whether or not a healing takes place.

We have all heard about or experienced first-hand a miraculous healing--a spontaneous remission of cancer, or an impossibly fast mending of a broken bone--these are examples of evidence of a higher power determining physical outcomes. Bailey instructs that at the end of a life, when attempts at healing fail, it is because they are supposed to fail, or that the person is using the disease or condition in order to leave the body.

In observing this heart-wrenching process first hand, every time I have, it has been obvious to me that the person was trying to die. It was time to go, and this is how they were choosing to do it. In fact, culturally, it is the accepted, normal way of dying--by disease or accident (or suicide). This is not necessarily the belief or process used by every culture to die.

Chief In the 1970 movie, Little Big Man, starring Dustin Hoffman, his character's adoptive father--Chief Dan--tells him, "I must go now to die." He then hikes up a nearby hill chosen specifically for this purpose, and lays down, ready to die. In the movie it took a few attempts, but finally he was successful.

Many Indian yogis and gurus die consciously often times in meditation, as did, famously, Paramahansa Yogananda. He was only 60 years old, but left his body in meditation. His body did not decompose, leaving the scent of roses lingering until his internment.

In all of these examples, the common denominator is CHOICE. We chose to come into this world--we also choose to leave it. The illusion of pre-destination is simply a failure to go earlier in the sequence of events to when the soul CHOSE how long a life to have and even how to leave it. If this remained unexamined, it very well would seem like "fate".

As we are all infinite beings, we ultimately have infinite power over our experiences, whether incarnated or not. As my guide, Anttarr, once said, "Dying is simply a tradition with you humans. It is not necessary, but you seem to like it." He went on to expound upon the psychology of social "entrainment", where we all learn what is "right" and "appropriate" behavior in the particular culture we choose to enter. Such concepts as "karma" are another way of saying that incarnation into the physical world has certain rules and laws, and you musn't violate these. Why, as infinite beings, we accept all that may be simply how the game is played, or perhaps a way to create intensities of experience. Whatever it is, we all can CHOOSE to change it, should we want to.

In its current level of choice and decision, Western views and traditions around death make it a "sloppy procedure," as said by one of my gurus. "The moment of our own death is known ahead of time by all those coming upon it. We err in the fear of it--in the denial of it. It is liberation. Why so scared?"

Conclusion

immortality I say, first, let us remove the automatic connection of death to the diseases and conditions that people normally die from. Yes, people seem to die from cancer, heart disease, infections, etc., etc.--but then, they also don't, and they also die from measles, falling off a ladder, and flu--things that most people recover from... because it was their time to die, and that's how they chose to accomplish it. We should respect these choices, instead of insisting the dying person stay and using technology to artificially prolong a life not ours.

Within the dying tradition is a sort of "death psychology" in the culture that has us embracing "longevity" as if we had anything to do with it. Again, health is independent of longevity. What we do have control over is our quality of life during the time we are alive. Thus, I can justify getting behind such concepts as a "healthy lifestyle." We may choose to be here "X" number of years, why not be healthy and feel good while we are alive; and not try to "live healthy" in order to postpone death. It not only takes the fun out of life, but is a falsehood as well. Not only that, it completely ignores the moment of choice by an Infinite Being. Want to live longer, then choose to do that. Want to live to a "ripe old age"? Then choose to do that. Want to live forever? Well, an infinite being is already immortal, so, that's not really a stretch, either...
